Our Aikido program seeks to create a culture of respect and friendliness while maintaining a seriousness of training.  Students, under the guidance of instructors and senior students, learn from one another though training together.  In addition to training, we all contribute to the health of the dojo through sharing our time and effort according to our abilities, which may include teaching, website upkeep, marketing, and simple dojo maintenance.  Based on a collective model, we find that through training and sharing our time together, our lives are enhanced.  This is our vision of our community here at Seattle School of Aikido.

We invite you to come visit the dojo and personally share our vision and training.

Summer Special for Adult Aikido!

June is here, and so is our Summer Aikido Special!

Regular adult Aikido dues will be reduced to $60/month for June, July, and August. Students with valid ID will continue to train for $50/month.

There will be no formal beginner's series this summer due to erratic vacations, but new students can still take advantage of our introductory 2 months of training for $100.

More Ki for less dough!

A summer vacation schedule will be posted in the near future as well, so stay tuned.

See you all on the mat!

Possible new beginners series for Icho Ryu - April

I am considering a new beginners series starting on April 2, 2013.  This would be a 3 month session to help build a student's ability to learn as well as build physical conditioning for success in martial arts.   Whether we do this class or not is going to be based on the level of responses I receive.   This series will be taught by not only myself but by senior students in Icho Ryu.

Class time would be 6:15 to 7:30 on Tuesdays and the option for other classes on Thursday  and Saturday will be at the discrestion of the Thursday Budo Tanren and Saturday Icho Ryu class teachers.

If you are interested in participation, Please contact me via the contact links on the "About Icho Ryu" page and please tell me why you are interested.

Next adult beginner's series starts Monday January 7!

New Beginners Aikido Series

This 2-month course is designed to help the beginning aikido student ease into training in a comfortable setting with other new students.

Classes are held Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30PM - 7:45PM

Cost of the series is $100, or $75 for students with valid student ID.

Going-Away Party for Alex on Sunday the 23rd at 6pm

As many of you have heard, I will be moving to San Francisco for a new job in less than a week, and that means I won't be training at the dojo or teaching kids classes here anymore! :(

This Sunday at 6pm, we'll have a sort of going-away party so I can say goodbye to you all and you can see me one more time before I take off. Kids, parents, other dojo members and teachers are all invited.

If you want to bring something, you can bring cookies or other treats to share (no peanuts or peanut butter though!), and I will be providing free piggyback rides to all under the age of ten and doing my best to make sure that the kids burn off the excess sugar from said treats. No serious Aikido training will occur during this event!

If you just want to stop by, that would be great, and if you want to stay longer and play and talk, I'd say we could keep this going for an hour or so. Though I'm not sure how long I can keep up the piggyback rides.

I will miss you all very much, and it would be very nice to see you one more time before I go. If you can't make it, well, I'm sure I'll be back to visit sometime. :)

I hope to see you there!
